Life (Human existence) is impermanent. The Impermanent world is just an illusory flower and a false scene. We must be able to disillusion with (see-through) the impermanence and see through this dream. Disciples! If you are trapped within this illusory flower and false scene and stay unawake from this brief dream of splendor, you will be dragged along by the destiny for the whole life, and your mind will not be able to turn the situations around you. Hence, the value or purpose of life is to seek a permanent home to return to.
Excerpt from ‘Sayings of the Teacher’ (Chapter on Human Existence) – Sage JiGong
This question of “The Purpose of Life?” had baffled people since time immemorial. Some generally list their purpose of life as follows:
Wealth
Happiness
Good Relationships – Family, Spouse, Relatives, Friends, etc.
Fame / Status
Better Job / Career / Business
Success in Life – Generally
Beauty
Contribution to Society
Serving God
How about you?
What do you think is the purpose of your life?
Either you have thought about it or you did not even bother to think about it because it is something that, to you now, is not important at all.
To me, it is important to know the answer to the purpose of life. Why?
A lot of decision will be simplified once we know our purpose in life. That way we can live simply for a happy and successful life. However, it does not mean that it will be easy to do and achieve.
All of us know that in life we have and will go through all these, whether you like it or not:
Birth
Aging
Sickness, and
Death
Regardless of your position or status in society, no matter how rich you are; we are all going to die one day. The question is when and how?
We are growing old every day, seconds by seconds, and will get sick in our lifetime. It is either minor or major sickness. No exception. Rarely there is one without any sickness throughout his/her life.
Some may die young. Remember – graves are for dead people, not only for old people.
Chang, why do you tell me all these?
The reason is very simple.
I want you to live happily, regardless of your situation now.
Everything happens for a reason.
Reduce complaining. Deal with whatever that you are facing now one step at a time and then move on.
Practice gratitude more. You will be very much happier that way.
And I want you to know that you, me, and everyone else, all have a soul. And yes, Almighty do exist. This means Heaven and Hell too.
I also want you to realize that our life here is only temporary and whatever we acquired here cannot be brought to the spiritual world, be it Heaven or Hell, not even one penny.
What you can bring with you are just your merits and demerits, the deeds that you had done here, in the past and your previous lives – nothing else.
I want to share with you an email excerpt that:
Mr. Neale Donald Walsch
(author of Conversations with God)
wrote to me recently:
“For me, the beginning of the most fruitful, exciting and rewarding time of my life was the moment I realized I had a soul.
Before then, I didn’t know what ‘having’ a soul really meant; I didn’t know what the soul was, or what it did.
And I had no idea what my soul could offer me or do for my life.
My soul might as well not even have been there for all the good it was doing me. I mean, it was there, but I wasn’t receiving any benefit from its existence.
To me, the soul was simply a concept. It had no practical function in my day-to-day life whatsoever.
But the day I realized that my soul could be more than a mere concept, and was instead an actual functioning, practical, meaningful, and useful part of my day-to-day existence, was, in fact, the most exciting and rewarding day of my life up to that point.
It entirely changed the way I looked at myself and everything that had ever happened to me.
What I’ve since come to understand is that I am a more complex entity than I ever could have imagined—and certainly far more complex than I thought myself to be when I was a child.
My parents never taught me anything about my soul.
Neither did my teachers in school. Nor did I hear about it from any minister, priest or rabbi.
It was as if the concept of the soul, and the true function of the soul, was a secret no one was allowed to allude to or contemplate.
Not that I blame any of the people from my childhood or hold it against them. After all, they weren’t told by their elders about the soul, either.
It’s a terrible shame that the few messengers and teachers through the centuries who have explained these truths about the soul to us have been largely ignored, ridiculed or marginalized.
Some have even been killed for their beliefs. One particular messenger, you might have heard about was actually crucified.
The human species has a habit of crucifying and murdering people who reveal points of view about life that are contrary to what our Elders and the Ancients have passed on to us.
And here’s where humanity gets even further away from the truth…
Most of us think life is only about our own health, prosperity, happiness, and love…
But we did not come to physicality upon the earth just to achieve those goals.
All this time, since the dawn of civilization, we’ve been missing the biggest prize.
We haven’t even fathomed that there may be a deeper; more profound truth regarding what life is all about.
We’ve refused to entertain questions about the function and mission of our soul, and what it means to us as individuals and as a civilization.
But here’s what I know to be true after 70 years on Earth, and after many, many conversations with God about:
The meaning and purpose of life
The human soul is a direct expression and a singular individuation of Divinity, much like a drop from the ocean is both part of the ocean but not the entirety of the ocean itself.
The soul entered into physicality, or the individual reality of each and every one of us, in order to create an unlimited experience of Divinity, not a limited experience of humanity!
To put it another way…your soul is here on a mission from God.
That mission is to provide you with the Totality that is God, with a direct experience of what it means to be Divine.
We’ve all had moments where we felt a deep sense of connection to ourselves and the world, a sense of expansiveness and pure joy.
Those are moments where we might say we are connected with our soul, or being true to ourselves or doing what really matters to us.
By finding out the truth about your soul, and practicing, you’ll be able to have a new sense of wonder about your life almost immediately.
You’ll have a new reason for living, and you’ll finally feel a true sense of freedom because you’ll see there is nothing to fear and that you have a choice in all areas of your life: your career, your relationships, your health, and your general well being.
Discovering how to connect with and live from my soul is by far the most important thing I’ve ever done…
And it’s the most important thing you can do for yourself right now, no matter what stage of life you’re in and regardless of the specific challenges you may be facing.
That’s because when you can live from your soul, you’ll have a sense of the Divine nature of life and your true purpose on Earth, independent of anything you’ll ever have to do or achieve or acquire.”
Mr. Neale Donald Walsch’s realization was way … way higher than me.
Equality of Divine Laws and Doctrines
Coming back to the ‘Journey to the Underworld’, Journey No. 47, 2nd Moon 3rd Day (11th March 1978), touring “Pulling-Out Tongue and Piercing-Cheek” Small Prison, where sage JiGong chastises a soul who was previously a monk:
You silly fool! Lord Buddha does not have such disciples as you. The Laws and Doctrines of Buddha aim at equality. Although deities and saints reside in different localities and at different periods, yet the main purpose is to help humanity.
There is one group of ascetic practitioners, who, although they are not up to the mark, boast that they are very perfect; they write books which harp on their partial views, others distort the true meaning of the Scriptures, all confusing other religious beliefs. These sins are totally unpardonable.
I hope that religious teachers, monkhood, and ascetic practitioners will realize the true purpose of such religious practices, i.e., primarily to understand your heart which will lead you to understand your spirituality. You should not teach to upset other religious beliefs. Now every day you chant the bitter prayers; this is to let you taste, for yourself, the damages you had done when you were alive.
Do More Good than Evil
In Journey No. 58, 6th Moon 3rd Day (7th July 1978), Touring the Tenth Tribunal – Visiting the 6 Paths of Metempsychosis, Zhuan Lun Wang said to Yang Sheng:
Now that you have seen the working of the Tenth Tribunals, you can write what you have learned in your Book for human beings to read. To be candid, the sufferings encountered by the souls in Hades are caused by human beings themselves. I sincerely hope that all of you will take up ascetic practices as early as possible. Once a soul is lost in Hades, it will be more difficult to save it. I congratulate you on writing your Book, the aim of which is to tell people to do more good than evil. I’ll now bid you farewell to return to ‘Shen Xian Tang’.
Sage JiGong adds:
Another explanation is:
1] Devas,
2] Human Beings,
3] Asuras,
4] Beasts,
5] Hungry Ghosts and
6] Hell Beings.
The first path leads to Paradise where there are Fairies, Buddhas, Deities, Saints; these need not have to pass through ‘Zhuan Lun Tai’ but proceed directly to Paradise.
But there are others like founders of religions, patron saints, etc., who voluntarily pass through ‘Zhuan Lun Tai’ to be reborn as human beings in order to teach people to do good deeds and save them.
There is a saying that Saints, Buddhas, etc., and human beings must cooperate to do good deeds. In fact, for these Saints, Buddhas, etc., it is not actually Transmigration of Souls but it is for a specific purpose e.g. saving humanity.
Figuratively speaking, “3000 big worlds” cannot be traversed by the Six Paths, but it should really be 10,000 paths of transmigration instead. There is constant change in spirituality. All things are different but they have a common origin. Those who read this Book will soon know.
Self-Nature: The Purpose of life
Within the Universe, Heaven is great, yet the Self-Nature (Inner Being) is even greater. Do utilize fully your Inner Being to accomplish the Three Immortals: build Virtues (to correct one and be a perfect person), build Words (pass on the right teachings in writings) and build Merits (make contributions) – to assist Heaven-and-Earth in their task of transforming and nurturing the living things.

Verses in the Bible that Leads to Fulfilling the Purpose of Life
The Golden Rule
In the King James Version of the Bible, Matthew 7:12, the text reads:
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you: do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
It simply means,
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
The Great Commandment
In Matthew 22:36-40, King James Version (KJV)
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it,
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The Ten Commandments
Also known as the Decalogue, found in the Ark of the Covenant are:
1. I am the Lord your God, You shall have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee graven images.
3. You shall not use the Lord your God’s Name in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
5. Honor your father and mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

The Baptism

In Matthew 3:11-17, King James Version (KJV)
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
And Jesus answering said unto him, suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
